John Calverley is the violinist and leader of the Felt Hat String Band. The group includes some of Canada’s finest professional musicians playing in the hot swing-jazz style. This quartet which includes violin, two guitars, and bass, came about

from a love of the 1930’s Gypsy-Jazz pioneered by Django Reinhardt and
Stephane Grappelli. The Felt Hat String Band performs melodies from the canon
of this genre in a new and refreshing way, while staying true to the origins of this
classic sound. The Felt Hat String Band is: John Calverley - violin, Jamie Philp -
Guitar, Josh McHan - Bass.
